I'll be visiting Sao Paulo next month and Vintage Coffee & Emporium in Pinheiros is on my list. What's the actual going rate for a flat white there in 2026, and do cafes in that area quietly charge visitors more than locals? Just want to know the real number before I order.

prices are on the menu, no gringo tax

I was at Vintage Coffee in Pinheiros in January and a flat white ran about R$18 to R$22, closer to R$22 with oat milk. No dual pricing in Sao Paulo cafes, that's not really a thing here. What does catch visitors is the 10 percent service charge on the bill, so budget for that. The coado at smaller botecos nearby is often under R$10 if you want a cheaper baseline.

Tipping isn't expected beyond the 10 percent serviço, and many places now add it automatically for sit-down orders. If you pay by card, check the machine total before tapping, some spots pre-select the service fee. A pão de queijo and pingado combo at a padaria runs R$12 to R$15.
