honestly dont know that specific area well but most padarias pull a decent espresso for cheap. just look for one with a few locals standing at teh counter in the morning, thats usually a good sign

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

yeah the counter crowd never lies, pão na chapa too

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

pão na chapa is basically the whole point, espresso plus one of those and you're set for the morning

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

espresso plus pão na chapa is the correct breakfast, no notes. only thing id add is ask for it "bem passado" if u like the bread crispy, otherwise it comes kinda soft.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

the counter crowd test works but skip anywhere charging R$12+ for espresso, that's tourist pricing for teh same thing

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fair point on the counter crowd. one catch tho, a lot of padarias switch to lunch mode by 10 so get there early if u want to sit. after that its takeaway chaos.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Counter test works but watch the time, most padarias hit lunch mode by 10 so go before 9 if u want to sit.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

ime that 9 cutoff is real, by 9:30 the tables are gone and its all takeaway

I went last year and the pintado na brasa was the standout, though the menu shifts seasonally so check what's running. It's in Pinheiros, easy off the Fradique Coutinho station, so not really out of the way.

Booked three weeks out last time and still got a 21h30 slot only, so plan the reservation early. The moqueca and the pirarucu dishes held up better than the meat, honestly. Worth the detour if you're already spending an evening central.

the tutu de feijao side, don't skip it

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Agreed, though I'd ask them to go easy on the farofa on top or it dries the whole thing out. Their tutu comes with a soft poached egg if you ask, which pulls it together. Worth the small extra.

no clue tbh, just book ahead if u go
