Bar e Lanchonete Praça da Sé, worth a stop in 2026?

the praca da se metro exit puts u right there but watch ur phone in the crowd, its a pickpocket spot

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

metro exits on the sé side are the worst for it, keep ur bag zipped & in front of u

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

keep it in ur front pocket not ur back one, the back-pocket grab is the classic move there

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

front pocket only works if ur bag has a zip btw, tote bags get dipped there too. and dont flash a phone at the praca itself, walk a block off before u check it

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

more like a grab & run spot honestly

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

idk about 2026 but that whole praca da se area gets sketchy after dark so hit it around lunch when the office crowd rolls through

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

yeah lunch is the move, get there before noon

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fair point on the after dark thing, i'd just add that sunday is dead there too so don't count on it if ur around then. weekday lunch is def when it's got any life

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

lunch rush is more like 11:30 to 1

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

after dark it's mostly empty anyway

Is R$45 for a beer in Sao Paulo normal in 2026?

That seems steep even by my standards, is that actually the going rate or was he exaggerating? Also wondering if there's a big gap between draft and bottle prices.
arrow_drop_up 16 arrow_drop_down

honestly R$45 is on the high end but not crazy for craft in Pinheiros these days. draft is usually cheaper than bottle, sometimes by 10 or 15 reais. look for happy hour spots, teh prices drop a lot before 8

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah and craft spots on Rua dos Pinheiros tack on a 10% servico, so budget for that on top of the menu price

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

45 sounds high for a normal bar beer tbh. I think that's more like a fancy craft spot in Pinheiros, not teh standard. Chopp (draft) is usually cheaper than bottle, sometimes by a good chunk. If u see a place charging 45, check if its a touristy spot. Normal bars are prob more like 15 to 25 for a draft.
