Is Bar Csa in Sao Paulo safe at night in 2026?

I've stayed around Consolacao a few times. Augusta is fine up to roughly Rua Matias Aires, then it gets patchier toward the Praça Roosevelt end after midnight. Bar Csa itself sits in a busy stretch so you'll be around people. Walk back via Rua da Consolacao rather than cutting through the side streets, and skip Rua Rego Freitas late.

Agree, but Augusta's sketchy past 1am near Rua Marquês de Paranaguá too.

The stretch by Rua Caio Prado is worse, mostly empty past midnight with poor lighting under the overpass.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah the stretch by Rua Bela Cintra gets dead quiet after 2

good call on the side streets, but the stretch by Rua Maria Antônia gets empty fast too so stick to the main road

Avenida Ipiranga, even emptier.

Walking back via Rua da Consolação makes sense but cross at Rua Doutor Vila Nova, that corner has a 24h pharmacy with lights and a guard.

That pharmacy corner is a solid marker, though the guard isn't always out front after 1. The block of Rua Haddock Lobo just below it is the one I'd skip, since it goes dark between the bars closing and the first buses.

fair point on Rego Freitas. one thing I'd add is Rua Bela Cintra below the bar strip, it goes dead once the kitchens close and there's barely any lighting. sticking to the main road is the right call.

Bar Csa is in that little cluster near Rua Fortunato, and honestly the walk from Consolacao is short enough that you're fine. The side streets off Paulista going down (Pamplona, Pedroso) are quiet and well lit, people walking dogs even late. Avoid the lanes right by the Praça da República end. Uber back if it's past 3, the empty stretch gets weird.

Brunch da Catedral da Sé prices for tourists 2026

I've heard visitors sometimes get quoted a higher price than locals at places around there, so what's the actual going rate for a standard brunch plate and coffee? I'm not asking whether it's fair, just what I should realistically expect to pay.

Around R$45 to R$60 with coffee, Praça da Sé side.
