Palazzo Barberini's Secret?

Question

So I finally made it to Palazzo Barberini in @Rome. The Caravaggio was incredible, seriously breathtaking. But I spent ages trying to find the rumored hidden staircase everyone whispers about, the one supposedly used by the Barberini family themselves. Is that just a myth, or is there some obscure guidebook reference I missed? I'd love to know if anyone's actually found it!

You're not the first to hunt for it. The spiral staircase is real, but it's not open to the public like the main ones. It's in the wing that connects to the Galleria Nazionale, and I've heard it's sometimes roped off for preservation work. If you're back in the area, try asking at the ticket desk on a weekday morning when it's quieter, they might let you see it from the landing.

yeah the hidden staircase is real, it's a borromini spiral not a typical one. it's tucked in the wing near the galleria nazionale ticket area, but they keep it closed off for preservation mostly. i managed to see it once by tagging along with a small guided tour that specifically mentioned it in the description, check the official website for those they run them maybe once a week in the morning. worth a shot if you're back, the geometry inside is wild

nah you're not crazy, it's real but it's not really advertised. it's called the scala a spirale, it's in the wing near the entrance to the galleria nazionale d'arte antica, but it's kinda tucked behind a velvet rope. some staff will let u peek if you ask nicely, i've done it once
