What is the best way to travel to Hadrian's Villa from the city center?
train to tivoli is the move, from tiburtina not termini, takes about an hour and its rarely packed outside rush hour. from tivoli station you can grab the local bus 4 to villa adriana, but honestly i'd just walk it if the weather's decent, maybe 25 min downhill. buses from rome like the cotral ones work too but they stop way out on via tiburtina and the ride feels twice as long
Cotral from Ponte Mammolo gets all the love but nobody mentions the return leg is the real problem. Last buses back to Rome leave around 8pm and fill up fast on summer weekends, so if you miss one you're looking at a taxi to Tivoli station then the regionale, which is a pain after a long day walking the villa.
one thing that surprised me: the site itself is huge, like 120 hectares, so budget 3 hours minimum just for Hadrian's. People rock up at noon thinking it's a quick stop and end up sprinting for the last bus. Go early, like catch the 8am Cotral, and you'll have the Canopus and the Maritime Theatre almost to yourself before the tour groups show.
honestly the cotral bus from ponte mammolo is underrated. it drops you right at the villa adriana entrance, no tivoli station detour or CAT 4 faff, and it's like 3 euro. downside is they run maybe every hour and the timetable is more of a suggestion, so check the return times before you commit or you're stuck.
if you're going on a sunday, fwiw, the metro B to ponte mammolo is your friend and parking there is a nightmare otherwise. i'd take the bus over the train combo just for the door to door thing, unless you actually want to wander tivoli too.

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits
Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.
LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
