I have a layover in Riga before continuing my journey, and I'm wondering if it would be financially beneficial to purchase my tobacco there. Can anyone provide details on the prices?

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits

Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.

LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.

Tabaccheria closest to you probably won't help unless you're near a district with a lot of northern European expats, and honestly the ones around Testaccio and Ostiense tend to have the best shot because of the student and Erasmus crowd. The shop on Via Galvani near the market sometimes keeps General and Catch in the back fridge, you just have to ask at the counter, they don't put it on display. Also worth knowing that snus is technically sold as chewing tobacco here so the labeling can be confusing, look for "tabacco da masticare" if you're scanning shelves.

if u strike out at tabaccherie try the african shops around piazza vittorio, they often stock stuff that regular shops dont. also worth checking the tobacco kiosks in trastevere near viale di trastevere, one by the bridge had odens last time i passed. prices run higher than sweden obviously, like 6 to 8 euro a can

tbh most tabaccherie only carry the basic stuff. try the ones near Termini, they sometimes have General or Siberia. also check if there's a Tabbacchi near you that orders customs, some do if u ask.
