Worth knowing they're closed on Mondays and they do two seatings, roughly 19:30 and 21:30, so if you're calling, tell them which one you want. The phone usually gets answered between 18:00 and 19:00, before the rush starts, that's your best window. If you're staying nearby in Trastevere, just walk over around 19:00 and ask in person, they'll often squeeze in a couple for the second seating even when the phone line feels hopeless.
yeah they don't really do whatsapp at all. i'd just show up in person around 6:30 before they open, the guy setting up tables will sort u out for that night or the next. also try calling in italian if u can, even just "vorrei prenotare un tavolo", works way better than english
tbh da teo is old school, they pretty much only take bookings by phone during service hours, like after 7pm. just call, don't bother with whatsapp. if no one picks keep trying, or walk in right at opening and ask for a tavolo for later that night

tbh duty free at Riga is only worth it if you're buying cartons, single packs at the airport arent that much cheaper than teh tabaccai in Rome. also remember you can only bring a limited amount into the EU anyway so stockpiling has its limits
Chesterfield Blue usually runs around 5.50 to 6 euros a pack in Rome these days, though tabaccai prices are fixed by the state so it won't vary much shop to shop. Riga is generally cheaper for cigarettes but your layover time matters, if it's tight you might not have time to clear security and find a shop.
LM Blue in Rome is roughly the same ballpark, around 5.50 to 6 euros. One thing to keep in mind at Riga airport, the duty free selection isn't always great for specific brands like these, so if you're set on LM or Chesterfield you might strike out. I'd check what the actual duty free has before counting on it.
