How do you actually meet people in Ho Chi Minh City 2026?

Question

I'm moving to Ho Chi Minh City in a few months and honestly have no idea how to build a social circle there. Anyone got tips on recurring stuff like clubs or hobby groups where a newcomer can just show up? I'm near Quán cơm Nga if that helps 🍚

Language exchange nights at cafes in Bui Vien pull a regular mixed crowd, easy to just walk in alone.

Check the Facebook group "Saigon Expats" for weekly meetups; they post locations near Quán cơm Nga regularly.

Maybe try the expat football or badminton groups at Tao Dan Park on weekend mornings, people are pretty welcoming to new faces. I've heard the climbing gym crowd is social too.
