Anyone got tips on recurring stuff like clubs or hobby groups where a newcomer can just show up? I'm near Quán cơm Nga if that helps 🍚

Language exchange nights at cafes in Bui Vien pull a regular mixed crowd, easy to just walk in alone.

Check the Facebook group "Saigon Expats" for weekly meetups; they post locations near Quán cơm Nga regularly.

Maybe try the expat football or badminton groups at Tao Dan Park on weekend mornings, people are pretty welcoming to new faces. I've heard the climbing gym crowd is social too.

Is there a recurring group or weekly thing around places like 35 Bia Sệt where a newcomer could actually become a regular? I'd rather find something steady than just hit random bars.

quan nhau regulars usually form around a shared table not a venue, so join a facebook group for expats in District 7 and ask who wants to start a weekly one

35 Bia Sệt is more of a sit-down-and-drink spot than a mingling one, tbh. Your better bet for becoming a regular is a smaller neighborhood quán in Binh Thanh where the same crowd shows up nightly; learn a few Vietnamese phrases and the bia hoi pourers will remember u fast.

yeah sit-down spots are tough to break into solo. smaller quan on a hem off Nguyen Trai works better, same uncles every night & they'll wave u over by week two. go before 6 or the good tables are gone

most quán nhậu start filling after 7pm though
