Thảo Mộc is solid but I'd walk a few blocks for better, and ca phe sua da runs about 25k to 45k depending on the spot.

agree, try Nguyen Trai side streets before 7am

Hit Tran Binh Trong instead, the side alleys off it have a couple of spots doing strong ca phe sua da for around 20k.

Those alley spots water it down unless u ask for it strong, and the ice ratio is what really kills a cheap cup

Cach Mang Thang 8, before the office crowd lands.

District 3 side, Trần Quốc Toản, 6am.

Go a bit past the 30k mark, the 25k cups are mostly ice.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

fair point on the ice thing. i'd say the sweet spot is more like 35 to 40 for a proper cup, and the phin-brewed places on Cao Thang tend to be denser. anything under 30 and you're basically paying for the glass.

Walk toward Vo Van Kiet, quieter cafes.

quieter for sure but some of those spots close early so don't sleep in

Anyone got tips on recurring stuff like clubs or hobby groups where a newcomer can just show up? I'm near Quán cơm Nga if that helps 🍚

Language exchange nights at cafes in Bui Vien pull a regular mixed crowd, easy to just walk in alone.

Check the Facebook group "Saigon Expats" for weekly meetups; they post locations near Quán cơm Nga regularly.

Maybe try the expat football or badminton groups at Tao Dan Park on weekend mornings, people are pretty welcoming to new faces. I've heard the climbing gym crowd is social too.
