Any recurring stuff like language exchanges or hobby groups worth checking out? I heard ModViet Cafe does some kinda weekly thing but not sure.

tbh I only visit HCMC a few times a year so take this as secondhand, but the Sunday morning run club that starts near the Turtle Lake roundabout on Pham Ngoc Thach is a real thing and pretty welcoming to newcomers. ModViet Cafe does have a language exchange night, I think Wednesdays, but double check the time before u go since it moves around. For hobby stuff the board game cafes in District 1 tend to run weekly open tables, easy to just show up solo.

fwiw the Thursday expat football kickabout in District 7 near Crescent Lake is easy to join, just bring boots and message the organizers first.

Yeah the organizers usually post in the Saigon Saints rugby club group chat, so ask there if the usual contact goes quiet.

whats the pitch fee tho, and studs or turf shoes

Anyone got tips on recurring stuff like clubs or hobby groups where a newcomer can just show up? I'm near Quán cơm Nga if that helps 🍚

Language exchange nights at cafes in Bui Vien pull a regular mixed crowd, easy to just walk in alone.

Check the Facebook group "Saigon Expats" for weekly meetups; they post locations near Quán cơm Nga regularly.

Maybe try the expat football or badminton groups at Tao Dan Park on weekend mornings, people are pretty welcoming to new faces. I've heard the climbing gym crowd is social too.
