For people who are currently working in Tokyo, how long is your commute time door to door?

Question

For me is around 30 - 40 minutes door to door

reginehager · Answer

30-40 min is solid, thats like the sweet spot honestly. i do about 50 from nakano to minato but the worst part is the chuo line rush hour, feels like a sardine can. if you can snag a seat or ride a less packed line like the tozai or something you're golden, but those 90 min commutes from the suburbs are a different beast - i had a coworker from machida who just napped the whole way

eleonoreneuner · Answer

i'm at about 35 min from jiyugaoka to otemachi, the tokyu line is way more chill than jr. but the real game changer is finding a coffee spot near your office exit, i stop at a tiny place under the tracks and it makes the whole morning feel less like a grind

susanna · Answer

mine's about 45 min from shinagawa to shinjuku, door to door including walking to the station and the yamanote line crawl. honestly i dont mind it cause i can read or zone out with music, but i know people who do 90 min from saitama or chiba and that sounds brutal to me. if you can keep it under an hour youre prob fine, but the real killer is if your office is near a station that requires a transfer, that adds 10-15 min easy
