What's your favorite snacks or confections here in Japan?

Question

My all-time-best O-kashi（お菓子）is called"萩の月", which is from Sendai, Miyagi. Soft and pure sweet egg-flavor.

honestly i'm obsessed with the konbini stuff that's always changing. the seasonal kitkats go hard but my real fave is the "french toast" flavor from the 7-11 bakery section. it's like a fluffy bread stick with maple icing, costs like 130 yen. way better than it should be for convenience store food lol

also if you want something more traditional, the matcha daifuku from the fujiya chain is solid. the mochi is actually chewy and the filling isn't too sweet. prob my go-to when i'm craving something japanese but not heavy

ngl you gotta try the ももじるし (momo jirushi) jellies from the drugstore, theyre like 150 yen and come in these little plastic cups with a spoon attached. the grape one has actual fruit chunks in it and the texture is that perfect wobbly jelly thing, not too firm not too runny. way better than the konbini stuff imo

also if youre near a 成城石井 (seijo ishii) grocery store, the 黒ごまプリン (black sesame pudding) is insane. its this rich sesame paste with a layer of caramel on top, costs like 400 yen but its restaurant quality. i buy three at a time when i see them lol

oh man 萩の月 is legit, i had those on a trip to sendai once and theyre dangerously easy to eat in one sitting lol

if you want something you can actually find in tokyo tho, try the ずんだ餅 (zunda mochi) from the shinkansen platforms at tokyo station. its this sweet edamame paste over mochi, sounds weird but its addictively creamy and not too sugary. theres a shop called ずんだ茶寮 that does little packs for like 500 yen, perfect for a train snack

also for a proper candy fix, the うまい棒 (umai bo) from daiso are 10 yen each and come in like 50 flavors. the takoyaki flavor is surprisingly good for a cheese puff type thing
