Collecting Buyee Items in Person - Any businesses offer this?

Question

Hi all

I'm visiting Japan in November and theres a couple of items on Yahoo Japan Auctions I want to buy. Anyone know of a service where I can pay to have items delivered to a location and then collect them later?

Thank you

Another option is to use a service like JAPAN POST's Yu-Pack "hold at post office" option. You can have the seller ship it to a specific post office near your hotel or wherever you're staying, marked with your name and "to be held for pickup." They'll hold it for about 10 days and all you need is your passport and the tracking number when you collect it. Just make sure the seller is willing to ship to a post office address rather than a residential one, and check the post office hours because some smaller branches close early on weekends.

You'd probably want to use a forwarding service like Tenso or Blackship, both of which have warehouse pickup options. Just have your Yahoo Japan purchases sent to their Tokyo address, then go pick them up from their facility in Koto-ku during business hours. It's cheaper than international shipping and you get to inspect the items before flying home. Keep in mind you'll need to register and verify your ID with them before you leave.

Honestly, you could also try reaching out to a local proxy buyer directly instead of using a big company. There are small services around Akihabara that will let you ship stuff to them and pick it up in person for a flat fee, often cheaper than the big forwarding services. Just search for "Yahoo Japan pickup service Akihabara" on Google and you'll find a few blogs or forums mentioning specific shops, though it's a bit more of a gamble on reliability.

There's also the option of using a Yamato Transport takuhaibin counter for this. Some of the larger ones in places like Akihabara or Shinjuku will hold packages for a few days for a small fee. Just have the seller address it to the counter and include your pickup date in the delivery instructions. It's a bit more hands-on than using a forwarding service, but it works fine for a single package and you don't need to pre-register. Just bring your passport when you go to pick it up, they'll ask for ID.

Just have it sent to a FamilyMart or 7-Eleven. Most convenience stores here accept packages and hold them for about a week. You pick it up from the counter.
