Coming to Cairo for the first time in March 2026 and the Citadel is top of my list. Do I need to book Salah El Din Citadel tickets online ahead of time or can I just show up at the gate? Also how long should I budget for the whole site, mosques included?

I went last year and just paid at the gate, no need to pre-book unless you want to skip the cash queue. Give it at least two to three hours if you're doing the mosques properly, the walk up to the viewpoint eats time too.
