Salah El Din Citadel late visit safety 2026
if u stay on the citadel side the al-azhar park road is lit & busy-ish later, but tbh the walk down to downtown is long so grab an uber
Al Azhar road's fine but that downhill stretch past Darb al-Ahmar gets sketchy once shops shut, so grab a ride from the park gate instead
Honestly I'd just grab a taxi or Careem back from the Citadel. The area right around it gets quiet fast after dark and there's not much foot traffic, so walking toward downtown is a long haul anyway. If u do walk, stick to the main roads near Salah Salem and skip the side streets behind the Citadel. Not worth teh hassle at night.
yeah & the streets right by the citadel walls go dead once the gates close so don't linger there
the stretch past al-azhar park gate stays alive with families till late so thats ur safest bet heading downtown
