Grab taking longer?
The rain is definitely part of it but I've noticed it's worst between 6-8pm when everyone's ordering dinner. If you're flexible on timing, ordering at 4pm or 9pm usually gets you a driver in under 20 minutes because they're not all clustered around the office buildings. Also worth checking if your building's security has started logging driver arrivals, my condo on Soi 31 started doing that and it added a solid 10 minutes to every delivery.
try ordering directly through the restaurant's line account if they have one. a lot of places in bangkok post their menu with a line link on their instagram or facebook and you skip grab's queue entirely. i do this for my go-to spots around ari and the food shows up in 20 mins because the shop handles their own riders. also the grab app has been crashing more since the last update which probably doesn't help wait times
yeah it's been brutal lately. i think it's a combo of the rain starting up again and grab cutting driver pay even more so less people are out delivering. if u can, try using lineman for a bit, the interface is way more annoying but i've been getting my food in like 30-40 mins instead of 90
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
