Does anyone know why Sra Bua lost its Michelin star?

Going in a month's time - curious to know if anyone has been relatively recently and what their review is.

Our family has also booked:

Nawa

Suhring.

Would anyone vouch for any other restaurants?

sometime between meals you should check out the Rot Fai night market in the ratchada area, it's not really near any of the restaurants you've mentioned but it's worth a trip, they have a lot of vintage shops and some weird stuff like antique taxidermy, the food is mostly standard night market fare but there's a few stalls that do some really good mango sticky rice, it's around 100 baht a plate which is pretty standard, honestly it's not really related to your restaurant plans but if you've got some downtime it's a good place to explore, they're open from around 5 pm to 1 am, the closest bts station is sukhumvit so it's not too hard to get to from most places in the city. Bo.Lan is a good choice if you're looking for something a bit more upscale, the chef is pretty well known for using local ingredients, they've got a few different sets of menus but the one that changes seasonally is usually the most interesting.

Nawa's location is pretty convenient, it's near the water taxi pier on the Chao Phraya River, so you can take a boat ride before dinner. the view of the city from the river is pretty nice, especially around sunset. there's also a night market near Suhring on Sathorn Road, it's open from around 6 pm to midnight, they have a lot of street food stalls and some shops selling local stuff. Suananda is a good choice for a more local experience, but if you're looking for something else, you should try Bo.Lan on Sukhumvit Soi 53, they do a great khao pad, it's around 250 baht and the atmosphere is pretty cozy.

fwiw i went to Nawa a few months ago and it was pretty good, the khao soi is a must try, costs around 280 baht which is pretty reasonable for the quality. honestly i was a bit surprised to see it on your list since its not as well known as some other spots in Bangkok. Suhring is prob a safer bet, i've heard great things about it, but i've also heard the degustation menu can be a bit pricey, around 5000 baht per person. if you're looking for something else to try, you should check out Jay Fai on Maha Chai Road, its a bit of a hole in the wall but the food is amazing.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
