Has anyone done a schengen visa from BKK?

My understanding is that you have to schedule an appt with VFS Global, but I'm curious about the timeline. We're in Koh Samui, so we'd have to travel to BKK to make the appointment. Can I submit my paperwork at the appointment, or does it have to be done beforehand? Is there a long wait time?

I know this isn't the ideal place for this question, but I'd appreciate any insights from someone who has done this at the BKK office of VFS Global. Thanks in advance.

One thing nobody mentioned yet, the VFS appointment system releases slots in batches, usually around midnight or early morning. If you check at 2am you'll often see slots that weren't there during the day. Also, if your wife's passport has any previous Schengen visas, bring copies of those pages, they actually speed up the process. For the photos, just get them done at the VFS office, the photo booths at malls often reject them because the background isn't light enough. The whole thing at Trendy Building took us about 90 minutes on a Tuesday morning, and we were back at the airport by 1pm.

just did this a few months ago with my partner. if her country is through TLS instead of VFS, double check because a few schengen countries use different agents here. the appointment itself is where you drop everything off, they check your docs on the spot and take biometrics again even if she has old visa. timeline wise, the wait for an appointment can vary a lot by country. france and italy are usually slammed, like 3-4 weeks out, while some of the smaller ones have openings within a week. processing after that took 12 days for us going to spain, but i've heard of people getting it in 5. one thing nobody told me, they don't accept cash at VFS, only card or promptpay, so bring a card for the service fee. also if you're flying in from samui, the bts from the airport drops you right at asok, the building is a 2 min walk from there.

Yeah, I've done it a couple times. You submit everything at the appointment itself, no need to send anything beforehand. The VFS office is at Trendy Office Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13, right near Asok BTS. For timeline, the appointment slots usually open up 2-3 weeks out depending on the embassy, but the actual visa processing after that is typically 10-15 calendar days for most Schengen countries. If you're coming from Koh Samui, just make sure you pick a slot early in the day so you can fly back the same evening.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
