Hi all,

I'm looking for a place to buy high quality Thai desserts for my New Year's eve dinner tonight. Does anyone happen to know a shop / market where I'd find those?

I was thinking Talad Phlu, but I'm not sure if they sell desserts there.

honestly skip the markets for tonight, too chaotic for nye. try "theera" bakery on sukhumvit soi 11, they do a killer khao niao sangkaya with pandan custard that's legit thai but way less street-food mess. or if you're out west, "khanom buang" shop near bang khae market has those crispy thai crepe things filled with sweet meringue, they pack well for a party. just call ahead to check if they're open, a lot of places close early for the holiday

yeah the suggestions here are good but nobody mentioned the khao niew mamuang cart on charoen krung soi 30 near the river city mall. it's run by this couple who've been doing it for like 20 years and they use the good stuff from rayong. their sticky rice is perfectly steamed and they'll slice the mango right in front of you. opens around 5pm and they're usually open late because they know the nye crowds hit yaowarat after dinner. about 80 baht for a full portion which is a steal for the quality

talad phlu is solid but honestly their dessert game is more about fresh fruit & sticky rice stalls scattered around the market. if you want proper thai desserts like khao niew mamuang or luk chup, head to yaowarat (chinatown) around 6pm when the street vendors set up. the cart near the old sa-bai je shop has this amazing tub tim grob that's way better than any khao san road version. or if you're near bang rak, try "pa thai" on charoen krung soi 38 for their mango sticky rice, they use coconut cream from samut songkhram so it's richer than most places

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
