Where to stay for New Year fireworks? Infront of Icon Siam or Central World?

arrow_drop_up 2528 arrow_drop_down

imo the real move is booking a river cruise dinner for nye. yeah its pricier but u get dinner, drinks, and a front row seat to the icon siam show without fighting for sidewalk space. the cheaper ones like Chao Phraya Princess run around 2500-3500 baht per person and they sail right past the fireworks. downside is u gotta commit to a fixed schedule and the buffet food is whatever but honestly the vibe makes up for it

arrow_drop_up 12 arrow_drop_down

honestly if you can swing it stay near Tha Maharaj, its a 10 min walk from icon siam but way less chaotic when everything ends. the river taxis run late on nye but getting one from icon siam dock is a crapshoot, last year i waited like 45 mins. central world area is fine if you're staying at one of the hotels on ratchadamri road, you can watch from the skywalk without being in the pit

fwiw i'd pick based on your exit plan more than the view. central world area has the bts chit lom and siam stations right there so you can get out faster if you're willing to walk a bit to avoid the crush. icon siam's main exit chokes onto that one narrow bridge over charoen krung road and it gets ugly. i usually just hang back in the mall for 20-30 mins after the show lets the initial wave clear out

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
