My question is: how's the rooftop bar s… So, I'm planning a trip to @Bangkok and booked The Pattern Boutique Hotel, it looks amazing online. I'm a total sucker for rooftop bars and stunning city views. My question is: how's the rooftop bar scene there? Is it all glitz and glamour, or is there a more chill, local vibe to be found somewhere? I'm hoping to avoid the super touristy spots. I want something with a cool atmosphere and maybe some live music. I've heard The Pattern has some pretty spectacular views from its rooftop, so I'm really hoping it hits the mark. Also, any recommendations for getting around once I'm there would be awesome!

i'd skip the pattern's rooftop for a chill night honestly. try the one at river wong nai in the talad noi area, it's a hidden spot above a parking lot with live blues on fridays and zero tourists. get around by walking through the sois there, lots of old shophouses and random street food. grab a motorbike taxi if your feet get tired, just hold on tight

yeah The Pattern's rooftop is solid for the skyline but it's def more of a dress-up kinda place. if you want something with live music and a proper local crowd, head to the rooftop at Sala Rattanakosin, it's right across from Wat Arun and the vibe is super chill. they do jazz sets some nights and it's way less pretentious than the Sukhumvit spots.

for getting around, honestly the BTS is fine but the river ferries are where it's at. take the orange flag boats from Sathorn pier, they're like 15 baht a ride and you get to see the city from the water. just watch your step getting on and off, they don't stop for long

Honestly The Pattern's rooftop is pretty great for the views but it's more of a polished scene. If you want something more lowkey with live music try Tichucha Rooftop Bar in the old town area, it's got a real laidback vibe and the crowd is mostly locals. For getting around I'd say just use the river taxis when you can, theyre cheap and way more fun than sitting in traffic.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
