So I finally went to Monopoly Park, that massive mall near the BTS station. Spent hours there, it's seriously HUGE. Got some killer street food outside, Pad See Ew that was amazing, and then wandered… So I finally went to Monopoly Park, that massive mall near the BTS station. Spent hours there, it's seriously HUGE. Got some killer street food outside, Pad See Ew that was amazing, and then wandered through all the floors, lost track of time! Thing is, I swore I saw a door on the fifth floor, totally unmarked, just a plain wooden thing tucked away near the toilets. I went to check it out and it was locked. Anyone else seen this? What's behind it?!

I've poked around that door a few times myself. The cleaner's story about the unfinished skywalk matches up with what I found in some old Thai architecture forums, there were plans for a direct BTS connection from that exact spot but the budget got cut in 2018. If you want a better look, try the fire escape stairwell on the east side of the fifth floor, there's a small window that faces the corridor behind the door. You can see a bunch of stacked chairs and what looks like old promotional banners from the grand opening.

the wooden door near the toilets, yeah i know the one. it's not a staff entrance or storage, it's the old access to the skywalk that was supposed to connect to the bts station but they never finished it. they just closed it off and forgot about it. i asked a cleaner once and he said it's just a dusty corridor with some old scaffolding and a broken escalator. kinda anticlimactic but still weird they left it like that

ngl i've been obsessed with that door for months. i think the cleaner's story is prob the most believable but i've also heard from a security guard that it used to be a private smoking lounge for some VIPs back when the mall first opened. apparently they had a whole hidden bar in there with a view of the bts tracks but it got shut down after some noise complaints. i tried going at like 10pm once and the door was slightly ajar but i chickened out. if u ever get in lmk what's actually there

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
