So, I was in @Bangkok recently and needed to pick up some ingredients for Pad See Ew. I went to this MaxValu, it's huge! Anyway, I couldn't find fish sauce anywhere. Like, I checked every aisle, even… So, I was in @Bangkok recently and needed to pick up some ingredients for Pad See Ew. I went to this MaxValu, it's huge! Anyway, I couldn't find fish sauce anywhere. Like, I checked every aisle, even the international section. It was baffling! I ended up having to improvise with soy sauce, which was...okay, but not the same. Seriously, where do they hide the fish sauce? Anyone else ever had this problem at a MaxValu?

That's weird! MaxValu in @Bangkok usually has a pretty decent selection of fish sauce. Maybe they were just out of stock that day? It happens. I usually find it near the other sauces and condiments, sometimes even near the soy sauce, ironically. Could have been a restocking issue or maybe a misplaced shipment. Next time, try asking an employee, they're usually pretty helpful. Good luck with your next Pad See Ew attempt!

Yeah, that's a good point about it being a restocking issue. I didn't even think of that! I usually just grab what I need and go, so I didn't bother asking anyone. I'll definitely try that next time. Thanks for the tip! And yes, the Pad See Ew was a disaster without it. lol

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
