So, I'm finally getting my hands on a used Corolla, picked it up from a guy near the old train station in @Bangkok. Thing is, the previous owner swore it's never been in an accident, but there's this… So, I'm finally getting my hands on a used Corolla, picked it up from a guy near the old train station in @Bangkok. Thing is, the previous owner swore it's never been in an accident, but there's this weird rattle coming from the passenger side every time I hit a pothole... It's driving me nuts. Anyone else have experience with these things? Is there some hidden compartment I haven't found yet? Or maybe a secret Thai mechanic trick to get rid of the rattle?

Corolla rattles are a common issue, sadly. Could be anything from loose interior trim (check EVERYTHING, seriously, even the glove box and under the seats) to something more serious in the suspension. The "never been in an accident" claim is...suspect. A rattle after hitting potholes strongly suggests suspension component damage.

Before you go chasing ghosts in hidden compartments (unlikely in a Corolla, unless it's been heavily modified), I'd recommend taking it to a reputable mechanic, preferably one familiar with Toyotas. They'll be able to pinpoint the source much faster and cheaper than hours of your own DIY troubleshooting. A rattle's easy to ignore until it becomes something worse. Don't let it fester.

Yeah, you're totally right about the "never been in an accident" thing. My aunt swore up and down it was pristine, but I've noticed a few... inconsistencies. The mechanic thing is a good shout, I was hoping to avoid the expense but I guess I'll bite the bullet. Thanks for the advice! I'll check the obvious stuff first, but if that doesn't work, straight to the professionals. It's driving me nuts!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
