Look for hotels or serviced apartments further down the sois (side streets) off Sukhumvit. The main road is a beast, but even a block or two in will be noticeably quieter. Higher floors also help – less street noise. Consider areas like Sukhumvit Soi 31 or Soi 39; they're still convenient but offer a bit more peace. Also, earplugs are your friend. Seriously. Even the nicest hotel can't completely block out @Bangkok's soundtrack.
