So, I'm heading to @Bangkok soon and had a meeting scheduled near the Nigerian Embassy. I've heard whispers...stories...about a hidden courtyard garden behind the main building, supposedly a little slice of Nigeria in the heart of Bangkok. Is this true? Anyone been there? I'm hoping to sneak a peek before my meeting

the second person is right but it's not really a secret. that whole stretch of sathon tai has little pockets where embassy staff chill. the nigerian one's back area is more of a concrete patio with some potted plants and a canopy. nothing fancy but you'll smell the pepper soup before you see it. if you're early for your meeting just wander down soi nana tai (the small lane, not the tourist one) and you'll find it.

honestly i think there might be something to it. there's a small soi off sathon tai that runs behind the embassy buildings and i've seen people hanging out back there eating jollof rice on plastic chairs. it's not some instagrammable garden but more like a quiet employee hangout spot with a few trees and benches. if you walk around the back side around 1pm you might catch the lunch crowd. just act casual and don't take photos

yeah there's definitely something back there but it's more of a staff canteen situation than a secret garden. if you go around 11am you'll catch people setting up a big pot of egusi soup on a portable burner. the smell is unmistakable. just walk down soi sathon 1 from sathon tai road and you'll see a metal gate that's usually propped open. if someone asks just say you're waiting for ambassador okafor's assistant and they'll wave you through

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
