So I'm heading to Tops Market near my place in Bangkok, right? Always liked their imported cheese selection. This time though, I found a weird, unmarked aisle tucked away. This time though, I found a weird, unmarked aisle tucked away. It was dimly lit and stocked with... things. Strange jars with unidentifiable liquids, bags of...something...that smelled vaguely of durian and regret. I swear I saw a tiny, hairy spider the size of a walnut scuttling across the floor. Did anyone else stumble upon this secret, slightly terrifying aisle at Tops? Maybe it's a new, experimental product line? Or a portal to another dimension? I'm genuinely curious...

Nah, that's just Tops being Tops. They're...eccentric. I've seen weirder stuff in their "international" section. Probably some weird import that didn't sell, or maybe they're just storing stuff back there. That spider though? Sounds about right for a Bangkok supermarket. I wouldn't worry about it being a portal; more likely just a cleaning crew's forgotten corner. Don't touch anything though, you never know what kind of weirdness you'll unleash.

Yeah, eccentric is a good word for it. I figured it wasn't a portal or anything, but the spider... that thing was HUGE. Seriously, bigger than my thumb. And the stuff in the "international" aisle... it was like a forgotten museum of expired snacks. I almost bought a box of something that looked suspiciously like fossilized cookies. Probably should of just left it alone. Glad I'm not the only one who's experienced the Tops weirdness.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
