Ayutthaya's Hidden Lanes?

So I spent a week exploring Ayutthaya Historical Park, amazing stuff, right? But I got completely lost wandering the smaller sois off Si Ayutthaya Road. These weren't on any maps I had. I stumbled on… So I spent a week exploring Ayutthaya Historical Park, amazing stuff, right? But I got completely lost wandering the smaller sois off Si Ayutthaya Road. These weren't on any maps I had. I stumbled on some incredible little family-run restaurants, though, the best Pad See Ew I've ever had was in one of them, tucked away down a ridiculously narrow alley. My question is: are there any comprehensive, detailed maps of the smaller streets and alleyways around Si Ayutthaya Road? I'd love to go back and explore more, but navigating those tiny lanes without getting hopelessly lost again would be nice. Maybe someone knows of a local resource?

Nah, you won't find a super detailed map of every soi in Ayutthaya. Those places are kinda... organically grown, you know? Google Maps is pretty good for the main roads, but once you're down those tiny lanes, it's all about getting lost and finding your own gems.

Honestly, that's part of the charm. Embrace the chaos! Just use Google Maps to get to a general area near Si Ayutthaya Road, then... wander. Ask locals, they're usually more than happy to point you in the right direction. Maybe even try talking to the owners of that Pad See Ew place; they might know some secret spots nearby. And if you get completely lost, well, that's just another adventure, isn't it?

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
