So, I'm heading to the Beat Hotel in @Bangkok next month. I've heard legends, seriously, legends, about the parties there back in the day. Apparently, it was the place to be for artists and musician… So, I'm heading to the Beat Hotel in @Bangkok next month. I've heard legends, seriously, legends, about the parties there back in the day. Apparently, it was the place to be for artists and musicians. My question is: Is there any tangible trace of that legendary vibe left? Like, are there any old photos, memorabilia, or even just a general feeling of that era still hanging around? I'm hoping to soak up some of that history, not just stay in a cool hotel. I'd hate to find out it's all been sanitized for modern tourists.

Doubt it. The Beat Hotel's heyday was decades ago. While it might claim some legacy, Bangkok's relentless redevelopment probably erased most physical traces. You'll probably find a nicely renovated hotel, not a time capsule. Maybe check online for old photos or articles; that's your best bet for getting a feel for the past. Don't expect to stumble into Jim Morrison's ghost or anything though... lol.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
