Needed a Red Bull, you know, the usual. The cashier, this older lady, was totally chill, humming along to some weird Thai pop song. She had this little shrine thing set up near the register, complete with tiny Buddha statues and offerings. It was kinda unexpected, but also... peaceful. Anyway, my question is: Are those mini-shrines common in 7-Elevens throughout @Bangkok, or was I just lucky enough to stumble into a particularly spiritual one?

honestly those little shrines are everywhere here, not just 7-Elevens. you'll see them in taxi dashboards, noodle shop corners, even some office lobbies. the one at that specific 7-Eleven on Rama IV is prob a bit extra because the cashier's been there for years - I live nearby and she's always had it. it's less about the store and more about the person running the register at 2am. next time grab a mango sticky rice from the soi 3 vendor across the street instead of just Red Bull, it's way better at that hour

that specific 7-Eleven on rama IV is a bit of a local landmark for night owls honestly. the old lady who works the 2am shift has been there since before they renovated the place like 5 years ago. the shrines are common in shops but what you saw is her personal setup - she adds fresh flowers every evening around 10pm before the late crowd hits. if you're back in that area grab a tomyum mama from the cart outside soi 5, it's the best late night fix in sathorn

Nah, that's not super common. I've been to tons of 7-Elevens in Bangkok and only seen that a couple of times. It's probably just that cashier's personal thing. They're pretty laid-back about that sort of stuff over there. Lucky you! I mean, a mini-Buddha shrine at 2 AM? That's a pretty solid memory.

Seriously?! A mini-Buddha shrine? That's amazing. I figured it was some kind of local quirk, but a shrine is next level. I should have taken a picture... Dang it. It was so unexpected, I just kinda stared, then awkwardly bought my stuff and left. Now I'm kicking myself. What a story though!

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
