I spent a week exploring Ayutthaya's historical park, but stumbled upon this amazing street, Si Ayutthaya Rd, almost by accident. It's a maze of tiny shops selling everything from handcrafted jewelry… I spent a week exploring Ayutthaya's historical park, but stumbled upon this amazing street, Si Ayutthaya Rd, almost by accident. It's a maze of tiny shops selling everything from handcrafted jewelry to ridiculously delicious street food. I got completely lost, which is probably a good thing, because I discovered these incredible little cafes tucked away between the larger stores. One served the best mango sticky rice I've ever had. My question is: what's the story behind the street art I saw in some of the alleyways? It felt super old and looked like it depicted scenes from Ayutthaya's past, but I couldn't find much information online. There was one particularly striking mural of a warrior

That's awesome you found Si Ayutthaya Rd! I've been to Ayutthaya a few times and never stumbled on that street. Sounds like a real find. The street art... yeah, that's a tough one. A lot of the older murals in smaller towns around @Bangkok aren't super well documented. It's often just local artists or community projects, sometimes even just spontaneous stuff. You'd probably have better luck asking around locally, maybe some of the shop owners on Si Ayutthaya Rd themselves could shed some light on it. They might know the artists or the history behind the specific pieces. Failing that, try posting pictures on a Thai history or art forum, you might get lucky there.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
