The sheer scale of it is insane. I was mostly checking out the arcade, spent a fortune on those claw machines trying to snag a Pikachu plushie (failed miserably). The food court was a battlefield though, lines were out the door for everything. My question is: Did anyone else notice how many different themed areas there are? It was like wandering through five different malls all at once... It was exhausting but oddly captivating.

honestly the themed areas are wild because theyre not even subtle about it. the japan zone has that giant godzilla statue and the little tokyo street lamps, its like theyre daring you to forget which country youre in. I actually think the food court chaos is part of the experience though, you gotta hit the boat noodles stall on the lower ground floor around 2pm when the lunch rush dies down, its way more manageable and the khao soi there beats the tourist traps upstairs

ngl the themed areas thing is smart marketing but also kinda funny when you think about it. the "Istanbul" zone has this tiny turkish coffee place tucked behind a fake bazaar entrance, proper strong stuff served with lokum and everything. costs like 60 baht which is a steal compared to the starbucks prices in the main concourse. also if you hit the "Harajuku" section on a saturday afternoon theres usually a small group of locals doing cosplay meetups near the crepe stand, way more chill than the actual tourist spots in Siam Square

The themed areas definitely serve a purpose beyond just looking cool. The "Tokyo" section isn't just for show, that soi-style alley on the third floor has a tiny ramen counter called Menya Itto that's been around for years and actually makes their noodles in-house. If you go on a weekday around 4pm you might get a seat without queuing for an hour. The "London" zone on the other side is mostly overpriced chains, I'd skip that entirely unless you need a Pret sandwich.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
