The Pad See Ew was consistently amazing, but I swear I saw the same mango sticky rice vendor three different times, each time with slightly different prices. What's the deal with that? Is it a single vendor with multiple carts or a whole sticky rice mafia operation?!

Haha, the mango sticky rice game is strong in @Bangkok! It's totally possible that's one super-efficient vendor working multiple spots. Prime real estate, you know? They probably scout locations with high foot traffic, maybe even rotate to avoid permits or inspections... or maybe it's just a really effective marketing strategy. Slightly different prices? That's just street food economics for ya. Negotiate! Always negotiate. You'll find better deals on the smaller sois (side streets) away from the main drags like Sukhumvit.

Negotiate?! I never even thought of that! I'm so used to fixed prices in touristy areas. Good tip. And yeah, the mango sticky rice was ridiculously good everywhere I went. Almost too good. I was starting to think I'd eaten it at the same stall three times in a row, even though the locations seemed different. Makes total sense about the permits and stuff though, didn't even cross my mind. Thanks for the insider info!

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
