Bangkok Christmas Eve Fun

Looking for walk-in spots in Bangkok on Christmas night. Looking for walk-in spots in Bangkok on Christmas night.

honestly just hit khao san road on christmas night, it's chaos but fun chaos. tons of backpackers and locals just wandering around with those cheap glow stick things, street food stalls open til 3am, and random bars blasting mariah carey. the whole street is closed to traffic so u can just walk with a beer in hand, no reservations needed.

if u want something a bit less wild, check out the christmas lights along sukhumvit soi 11, the whole soi gets decked out and there's food trucks and pop-up bars between the clubs. the vibe is more dressed up but still walk-in friendly, just expect a cover charge at some spots after 10pm

fwiw the christmas eve thing at the old town near wat pho is pretty underrated. the temple grounds have these massive paper lantern displays and monks do a small evening chant, which sounds random but it's actually really peaceful. after that u can walk over to the small soi behind the temple where there's a night market that only pops up on holidays, mostly local families selling grilled seafood and those little coconut pancakes. grab a seat on one of the plastic stools and watch the longtail boats go by, feels way more bangkok than the big commercial spots. just bring cash, barely any card machines there

ngl the best walk-in christmas night move in bangkok is just vibing at the riverside near saphan phut. there's that stretch of old wooden piers behind the flower market where locals set up makeshift barbecues and bring their own bottles. no cover no reservation just 40 baht beers from the corner shop and the view of wat arun lit up across the river. way more chill than the touristy spots and u can grab grilled pork skewers from the ladies who set up there every night. just bring cash and mosquito spray

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
