Join and explore local nightlife in Thong Lor and Ekkamai?
I'm 30, from Scan… Hey. I recently moved to Bangkok and been wanting to explore bars and nightclubs in the Thong Lor and Ekkamai neighborhoods. Especially the ones for local Thais. No red light stuff.

Thong Lor and Ekkamai have a lot of places that lean toward the expat or tourist crowd, but if you want spots where locals actually hang out, try Tuba on Soi Ekkamai 21. It's a two-story bar with live jazz most nights and the crowd is mostly Thai professionals in their late 20s and 30s. Their beer selection is decent and the food menu is huge, which is rare for a bar around here.
If you're into something more low-key, head to 8 Thong Lor on the soi with the same name. It's a small beer garden with long tables and a mix of Thai and foreign folks, no cover charge and beers around 120 baht. The vibe there is pretty chill, good for meeting people without the club scene pressure.
if you want a local spot that flies under the radar, check out sing sing theater on thong lor. it's a bit hidden and the decor is wild, like old shanghai vibes, but the crowd is mostly thai and the music switches from house to hip hop. not a tourist trap at all
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
