Think less "polite suggestion" and more "gentle persuasion with a slight whiff of intimidation." My advice? Have a clear plan. Stick to your drinks. If they try the hard sell, just point to your glass and shake your head with a friendly but firm "mai ao khrap" (no thank you, if you're a guy; "mai ao ka" if you're a girl).
