Storage Locker for 2 full sized suitcases at/near train station?

the old left luggage room at Hua Lamphong is basically dead now, most of it moved to Krungthep Aphiwat when the long distance trains shifted over in 2023 so dont count on it being open. there's actually a decent option at Bang Sue Grand, the MRT connection there means you can drop bags then hop straight to the airport link without dragging everything across town. rates run maybe 80 to 150 per bag per day depending on size, and they take card which the old place never did. fwiw for a full week i'd prob just stash them with a hotel you're staying at on the way back, way cheaper than 7 days of locker fees.

worth knowing before u commit: hua hin is only about 3.5 hrs by train now so some people just drag their bags along and keep the room in bkk for the return night, cheaper than paying locker fees for a week. also the left luggage at hua lamphong is cash only and they shut around 8 or 9pm, so dont roll in late expecting to drop stuff. if ur bags are the hard-shell kind, the chatuchak lockers can be tight for the really big ones, measure first

also keep in mind which station your train actually leaves from. most Hua Hin trains now go from Krungthep Aphiwat but a few still use Thonburi station across the river, and Thonburi has basically no locker setup at all. so check your ticket first before you plan around dropping bags somewhere. if it's Thonburi you're kinda stuck hauling them or leaving them at a hotel near Siriraj side.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
