Can anyone share info on Snuk School of Design?

Looking to take the Diploma in Fashion Design, Clothing & Business at the Snuk School of Design. Does anyone have experience at this school/advice on fashion design programs in Thailand/Bangkok? What… Looking to take the Diploma in Fashion Design, Clothing & Business at the Snuk School of Design. Does anyone have experience at this school/advice on fashion design programs in Thailand/Bangkok? What is their reputation?

Alternatively, does anyone know someone who went there that I can talk to?

Thanks!

Edit for more context: I am not seeking to get an undergraduate degree (already have that, unrelated to fashion design).

fwiw i looked into snuk a couple years back when i was weighing the same kind of move, ended up not going. the building on soi 35 is fine but the real tell was talking to a few grads on instagram, most of them were doing freelance styling gigs or teaching, not working in actual fashion houses. one girl i dm'd said the pattern making classes were solid but the business side was basically a textbook they recycled every semester.

if you already have a degree and want something practical, check out the short courses at chulalongkorn's continuing ed or even the weekend workshops at the thai silk association near the grand palace. those get you hands on with local textiles and the instructors are often master weavers or factory owners, way more connected than snuk's adjuncts. also, the james h.w. thompson foundation does occasional textile lectures that are free and worth the time if you're into the fabric angle.

for the diploma itself, nobody in the industry here treats it like a real credential, more like a certificate of attendance. if you're set on it, negotiate the price, they've dropped fees for off season before, i know someone who got 15% off just by asking. but honestly, your portfolio and a few months interning at a small atelier in ekkamai will teach you more than any classroom.

honestly the diploma route at snuk is fine if you want structure but the real value in bangkok fashion is who you know, not the paper. i'd skip the formal program and hit up the weekend market designers directly, a lot of the younger ones on the chatuchak soi 55 side are self taught and way more open to mentoring than any school admin.

also check out the fabric district around bobae market, that's where you'll learn the actual business side, negotiating with suppliers, seeing what sells, it's a crash course no classroom can match. snuk's reputation is decent for a portfolio piece but i've heard their business modules are pretty generic, they don't really plug you into the local supply chain which is the whole game here.

if you do visit, ask about their alumni working in production, not just design. the ones who land jobs at the big garment factories in samut prakan are the ones who got practical contacts, and that's a better measure than any fashion week appearance.

yeah the other comments covered the practical stuff pretty well, so let me add something else. if you're set on a diploma just for structure, snuk is okay, but i'd honestly compare it against the fashion design program at rajamangala university of technology phra nakhon, they have a proper textile faculty and their grads actually get placed at export houses, not just freelance gigs.

for someone with a degree already, the real trick is to skip the school route entirely and take a single intensive course, like the 3 month pattern drafting one at the bangkok fashion society on silom soi 19. it's cheaper, the instructor used to run a sample room in pratunam, and you'll leave with actual patterns you can sell to small brands.

also, if you want to talk to someone who actually did the diploma, search "snuk diploma review" on pantip, the thai forum, there's a couple threads from like 2019 and 2022 where people were brutally honest about the job outcomes. one guy said he learned more in two weeks at a garment fair in BITEC than the whole business module, and honestly that tracks with what i've seen from fashion trade events here, they're free to walk into and full of factory owners who'll chat you up if you just ask about minimum order quantities.

one more thing, the school's location on soi 35 is actually a plus, you can walk to the emquart

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
