But now I'm not sure what to do with my equipment. I have crutches, a walking boot, and a removable cast that I need to get rid of but I feel bad throwing it away.

the community hospital on charoen krung near saphan taksin takes them too, just drop at the nurse station. or post on the "bangkok free stuff" facebook group, that's honestly the fastest, someone'll grab em within a day. if ur near on nut, the little clinic by the bts has a shelf for this kinda thing, they gave me a walker there once when i twisted my ankle. crutches are always wanted, boots less so but still useful, someone's always limping around here

try the red cross on phayathai road, they take mobility gear for low income patients. or check facebook group "bangkok expat recycling" people pass stuff on all the time. crutches especially go fast, someone's always recovering from a motorbike scrape. if u're near sukhumvit, samitivej hospital has a donation bin for clean used equipment too.

honestly the facebook groups are your best bet, someone post them on "bangkok free stuff" and they'll be gone by dinner. or if you're near a temple, some of the monks know families that could use them, just ask around the wat office.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
