yeah the islands are definitely the spot for that, bangkok and pattaya are a different game entirely. in bangkok you might get lucky around soi cowboy or nana late night but it's mostly just guys trying to sell you overpriced weed or fake tabs. pattaya walking street is a total no-go imo, too many cops and undercovers

if you're set on finding some, your best bet is to hit up the backpacker hostels in bangkok near khao san, ask around the common areas. some of the long-term travelers there might have a connect but honestly it's a gamble. i'd say just stick to the legal stuff for the city part of your trip and save the mushroom hunt for koh phangan or koh tao if you can swing a day trip

One week is tight but you could make it work.

tbh you're prob not gonna find shrooms openly in bangkok or pattaya like you would on the islands. khao san road has people whispering about it but it's mostly just weed now and the cops do random checks. pattaya is even more risky cause the bars are watched and the tourist police are everywhere.

if you really want to try, your best bet is to ask a tuk tuk driver late at night but be careful - some of them just sell you dried herbs or worse, fake stuff. i've heard of people getting scammed with random mushrooms from the market that do nothing.

honestly the islands are the place for a reason, the vibe is different and people are more open about it. for a one week trip you might be better off sticking to weed which is everywhere and legal now, less stress about getting caught

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
