Any language school recommended for advanced learners? (Private class after hours or weekend)
What I don't ne… I have a Thai learning budget and am looking for a language school that has teachers who can accommodate advanced learners who need customized private classes tailored to their needs.
What I don't need is a teacher who can only teach the school's standard textbook and levels.
What I need is a teacher who's able to put together a custom class with contents, exercises and homework based on input that I provide.
It also has to be a registered business so I can expense it. No hobby teachers please.
Teaching after hours during the week or on the weekend.
Any recommendations?
ive had good luck with AAA Thai Language School on Soi Thonglor. theyre less known than Duke but the owner teaches advanced classes herself and shes super flexible about tailoring content. i brought in some legal documents i needed to understand for work and she built whole lessons around that vocab and sentence structures
theyre definitely a registered school, i expensed my classes through my company no problem. pricing was around 900 an hour for private lessons but she gave a slight discount when i committed to 10 sessions upfront
another option is to check with Pro Language School near Asok. their advanced track is more academic focused but they let you negotiate the syllabus before you pay. just be clear upfront that you need custom content and not their standard advanced textbook, some teachers there default to the book if you dont push back
honestly Duke Language School on Sukhumvit 26 is prob your best bet for this. they have a few senior teachers who do custom lesson plans for advanced students, not just the standard book stuff. I know they're registered as a proper business too so that expense thing should work
Ive taken private classes there before and the teacher let me bring in my own materials like news articles and work emails to study from. they charged around 800-1000 baht per hour for private lessons depending on the teacher seniority
thai style on Sathorn is another option but their advanced program is more structured, not as flexible with custom content. Duke was way more chill about letting me dictate what I wanted to learn
try looking into Thai Language Hut near Ekkamai. they're small and not talked about much but the head teacher there used to work at the UN translating Thai, so she really gets advanced learners with specific needs. my friend was studying legal Thai and she built a whole curriculum around court documents and contracts for him. they're a registered business and charge around 950 an hour for private classes, plus they're open til 8pm weekdays and saturdays too
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
