Would it be better to take a regular taxi, use Grab, or go with Bolt? Also, what is the average price range for these options? I'd appreciate any recommendations on the easiest option, as I'm not planning to take public transportation after a very long flight :)

honestly at 12:45am just walk to the official taxi stand outside arrivals, it's well organized and they'll give you a ticket with the car number. the queue moves fast that late, prob 250-350 baht all in including the 50 baht airport surcharge and tolls. for your mom at 7am traffic is starting to build on the expressway so tell her to expect maybe 400 baht with tolls

bolt and grab are fine but at that hour the airport taxi stand is actually faster since you don't have to wait for a driver to accept. just make sure they use the meter, some drivers will try to quote a flat rate of 500-600 baht which is a rip off. the whole ride to khlong toei is like 30-40 mins depending on which part, if she's near benjakitti park it's even quicker off the rama iv exit

for your 12:45am arrival, just grab a Grab taxi from the official stand at the airport, it'll be around 350-500 baht depending on tolls and surge. bolt can be slightly cheaper but at that hour the wait times might be longer

for your mom at 7am, same deal honestly, maybe 300-400 baht since traffic is still light. the airport rail link doesn't start til 6am so she'd have to wait around anyway, not worth it after a long flight

both of you should just use the Grab app, it's the most straightforward and you can pay by card so no fumbling with cash jetlagged. just make sure to set the pickup point at the official taxi queue area near the exit

Yeah for your 12:45 AM arrival the airport taxi stand is your best bet, no surge pricing and the queue is basically empty that late. For your mom at 7 AM I'd say Grab because the taxi stand can have a bit of a line by then, plus she can track the car easily and pay with card.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
