the gimbal bag thing is a niche problem bc most stalls just sell phone cases & cables. what actually worked for me was the camera repair shops in the small arcade under Phaya Thai BTS, they dont advertise bags but they order whatever u want from their supplier and it arrives in 2 days, usually cheaper than retail. also worth checking the DJI official store at Siam Paragon, they sometimes have open box returns going for like 40% off and the warranty still transfers. last option is the facebook group "กล้องมือสอง" where bangkok sellers post daily, meetups at BTS stations, cash only

Indira is mostly second hand and knockoffs so brand stuff is hit or miss there. For camera and gimbal bags specifically try the shops on the 4th floor of Fortune Town on Ratchadaphisek, that whole building is basically IT and they stock Lowepro, PGYTech, Ulanzi etc. Prices are fair and you can bargain a bit, plus its all indoors with AC unlike Chatuchak.

worth knowing that most of the "brand" gimbal bags at mbk & fortune town are the same oem stuff you see on shopee, just marked up for foot traffic. the actual distributor for ulanzi & pgytech in thailand is over on soi rama 9 near the fico place, they do wholesale & will sell walk-ins if u ask, prices are basically online rates without the wait. down side is no display, u gotta know the model u want before u go

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
