Looking for good recommendations for a hiking sandal? Do they sell Tevas around anywhere besides the Teva store? I see there's a standalone but it's pretty far away so wondering if I'd find them in a mall anywhere closer? Or any recommendations of stores? Roughly size EU 40/US 9, is it hard to find these sizes here?

I figure my best shots are Decathalon or the Teva store but wondering if anyone has a good spot for me to check out, thanks :)

If the standalone Teva shop is too far, the On Running and Keen sections inside EmSphere or Central Embassy are worth a look, though selection leans fashion over function. For actual hiking straps that wont give out, try the outdoor floor at Siam Discovery or the small shop on the 3rd floor of Terminal 21, they stock Chaco and Xero too. Size 40 is everywhere here, you wont struggle. Also the fix for your old pair, any mooban cobbler will restitch it for like 100 baht while you wait, worth keeping as backup.

mbk has a few small shoe shops on the upper floors that carry tevas & keens, prices are negotiable too so u can haggle a bit. size 40 is super common here so u should be fine, its the bigger sizes that vanish

decathlon works but their sandals run narrow in the toe box, if u have wider feet try the keens there instead. for tevas specifically, robinson or central department stores usually have a small teva rack in the sportswear section, way closer than the standalone store. size 40 is honestly one of the most common sizes here so u shouldnt have trouble, it's the 42+ that sells out fast. also check chatuchak weekend market if ur around on a sat, there are a couple shoe stalls near section 4 that sell legit tevas cheaper than retail, just check the stitching

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
