the national stadium tennis courts near BTS wongwian yai are cheap, like 100-150 baht an hour depending on time of day, but u have to book in person a day ahead. for finding players, check the thai deaf sports association, theyre based out of huamark and run regular sessions for different sports. i dont play tennis myself but ive seen deaf badminton groups at ramkhamhaeng uni too so theres a scene if u ask around there

if ur near the mo chit side there's courts at kasetsart uni, super cheap for outsiders like 80 baht an hour off peak, students mostly but nobody cares as long as u book ahead at the office by the main gate. for connecting with deaf players i'd skip the big fb groups and look up the deaf tennis club that trains out of the rama 9 courts on weekends, theyve been around for years. line is prob ur best bet to reach them, search "tennis หูหนวก" and u should find the group

honestly the tennis scene at Lumphini is mostly expats and theyre pretty welcoming if you just show up. courts there run around 200 baht an hour but you can sometimes split with whoever's waiting. for deaf players specifically, try posting in the Facebook group "Bangkok Sports Meetup" bc theres a few deaf folks who organize badminton and tennis there. also worth checking with the tennis coaches at Ramkhamhaeng, some of them know sign language basics and can connect you.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
