Hey everyone,

I am currently in offer stage in Agoda for Bangkok location. I have to move from India to Bangkok for this position. In India, I hold offers in range 45 - 49 LPA but I am not sure how much salary I should expect in terms of THB.

I have checked PPP and found out that salary of 210-215k THB/month is equivalent to 50LPA in India and if you save some money there, you can earn good money in terms of INR.

What is the ideal salary range that I should ask for and what is the salary band for above role at Agoda?

honestly the ppp calc is gonna mislead u here, i've seen indian expats do this exact math and it never works out clean. agoda's band for senior fe is 230-280k but the real trick is how they structure it, thai employers love to quote a "total package" that includes the 13th month pay and bonus, so a 240k quote might actually be like 220k base. make sure u ask for the base monthly breakdown before u sign anything.

on the living side, don't sleep on the commute math. if u pick a place near bts on sukhumvit, u'll pay 40k+ for something decent, but the line extension to bang na or even the mrt purple line area can get u a bigger place for 25k. the tradeoff is 30-40 min on the train, which is totally normal here, bangkok traffic is worse than the train honestly.

for the offer itself, i'd aim for 250k base and push for a 2-3 month signing bonus instead of fighting for 10k more per month. agoda's bonus culture is real, but it's tied to performance, so don't bank on it being guaranteed. also ask about the health insurance for dependents, that's a hidden cost that adds up fast if u have a family coming.

yeah the other reply nailed the band, 230-280k is about right for senior fe. one thing to add, agoda's thai payroll has this weird thing where they split base and "fixed allowance" sometimes, so make sure the number u negotiate is the total monthly, not just base. i've seen people get surprised when the allowance isn't included in the increment later.

also don't forget the tax angle beyond income, thailand has no capital gains tax on stocks if u hold them right, and the esop or rsus they give can be a solid chunk. i'd push for 250k+ and a signing bonus instead of haggling base too hard, that's easier for them to approve. relocation package is standard, but ask for extra months of serviced apartment, they usually give 1-2 months, u can get 3 if u ask.

one practical thing, living near bts on the sukhumvit line costs more than the 25-35k mentioned, expect 35-45k for a decent place in thong lo or ekkamai, but u can go further out to on nut and save a lot. that's where the ppp calc gets fuzzy, ur savings rate matters more than the raw number.

for senior fullstack fe at agoda, 210-215k thb is actually the low end of the range, tbh. most senior offers i've seen land between 230-280k thb/month, depending on your negotiation and the team. don't anchor on the ppp calc, agoda's bands are pretty wide and they expect you to push back.

ask for 260k+ thb base, plus they'll throw in relocation, bonus (usually 10-15%), and stock options. thai income tax is way lower than india's, so even 240k thb net feels like 55-60 lpa back home. also factor in that rent in bangkok for a decent 1br near bts is 25-35k thb, not crazy.

if they lowball you at 210k, that's a red flag, they're starting you at the junior end of senior. counter with 265k and see what sticks. you've got the leverage, two offers in india means you can walk.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
