This might be a stretch but any good taquerias/Mexican food in Bangkok?

Moved to Bangkok couple weeks ago and being the California boy I am I'm really starting to miss Mexican food. Any place in Bangkok where I can get a decent Taco or Burrito? Thanks! ngl Cali mex is tough to find here but check out May Kaidee's Taco Night at their Ari location on Thursdays. it's vegan so don't expect carne asada but their jackfruit al pastor is surprisingly legit and they make fresh corn tortillas in house. 120 baht for three tacos which is way easier on the wallet than La Monita.

also if you're ever in Ekkamai, there's a tiny spot called Taco Lab hidden in that alley behind Big C. they do birria tacos with consome on weekends only and it's the closest I've found to actual street style. cash only though and they usually sell out by 2pm.

honestly, for legit mexican you gotta hit up La Monita in Thonglor. they do proper al pastor and the salsa bar is solid. pretty pricey though, like 300-400 baht for a taco which hurts coming from cali prices.

if you want something more casual, Taco Taco on Sukhumvit 53 is my go-to for burritos. not gonna pretend it's mission district level but it scratches the itch and they don't skimp on the guac. their happy hour 4-7pm has 150 baht tacos which is prob the best deal you'll find in town

sunset tacos on sukhumvit 26 is worth a look, they do fish tacos that actually taste like baja style and their tortilla chips are house made which is rare here. just know it's more of a bar vibe than restaurant so don't expect white tablecloths or anything. also if you're near on nut, el chingon has solid carnitas but their hours are weird so check google before you go

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
