Tattoo removal in Bangkok?

Any affordable but safe tattoo removal shops in Bangkok? I was actually shocked at how expensive some of the responses I've been getting. Thank you in advance. honestly the safest cheap option nobody mentions is the dermatology program at public universities, like Mahidol's skin clinic, they run it as training so u get supervised by real specialists but pay student rates. I went with a friend last year, small black piece on her wrist, 600 baht per session and they were super careful about numbing cream and aftercare, not the quick flash and go vibe u get at some street shops.

also if u got colored ink, skip the cheap places entirely, they'll just burn u and leave scarring. for that u actually want a place with a picoway laser, there's a spot on soi thonglor 13 that has one, charges around 3k per session but it actually breaks green and blue, which the old q-switch machines can't touch.

one more thing, check if ur piece is raised or has texture, if it's scarred from the original tattoo, laser removal can make it worse, some clinics will even refuse or tell u to see a derm first. that's a red flag if they don't ask about it, means they just want ur money.

Tattoo removal pricing here is all over the place, and a lot of clinics quote tourist rates. I'd skip the places around Sukhumvit's main strips and look at the smaller clinics near Ramkhamhaeng or in the old town, they tend to charge per session based on size, not per square inch like the malls do.

For safety, check that they use a Q-switched laser, not the older IPL machines, and ask to see their license, most legitimate spots will have it framed. I've heard decent things about the dermatology department at Bumrungrad if you want a consult first, but for actual removal, a place like Dr. Chai's clinic on Soi Ekamai 10 does solid work for around 1,500 to 2,500 baht per small piece, though you'll need multiple visits.

One thing that catches people off guard: black ink is way easier to remove than colored, so if yours is faded or simple linework, you might get a better deal. Also, don't be shy about negotiating a package price for several sessions upfront, that's common practice here, and you can usually knock off 20 to 30 percent.

if u're near victory monument there's a bunch of small clinics on ratchawithi rd that do it, mostly for locals, they won't quote u tourist prices. i paid 800 baht for a palm-sized black piece there, but the catch is they use a picosecond laser which hurts a bit more and u gotta go back like 6 times, still way cheaper than the 5k+ quotes i got around asok

also worth checking the facebook groups, like "bangkok expat deals" or the thai language ones, people sell leftover session packages from clinics when they move away, got 3 sessions for like half price once. just make sure the clinic name on the package matches where u actually go, some resellers are sketchy

and honestly, if ur ink is small and black, some places in chinatown near yaowarat rd do it with old school q-switch for like 500 baht a pop, but the waiting room is a bit rough, no AC sometimes. for that price i'd deal with it, just bring a fan

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
